I am not a doctor, but I listen to those that talk about natural remedies and health benefits of herbs. I am NOT saying these herbs cure anything, but I know from personal experience they can help alleviate symptoms. I have a list of herbs that might offer some health benefits and what food they go well with. Here is my list:

Coughing? Rosemary--the eucalyptol in this herb is study proven to loosen congestion, making phlegm easier to expel. Plus, rosemary is rich in anti-inflammatory tannins, which soothe a sore throat. Rosemary goes well with potatoes, pasta, and apples.

Crampy tummy? Mint--Peppermint contains menthol, a natural plant compound that relaxes pain-inducing intestinal spasms. This reduces belly discomfort by 40 percent. Mint goes well with eggplant, tomatoes, melon, or green peas (maybe mint candy).

Menstrual Cramps? Oregano--Oregano contains thymol and carvacrol which helps relax uterine muscles to help prevent painful contractions. Enjoy about 2 teaspoons of fresh oregano daily during menstruation, which helps reduce or eliminate cramps. Oregano goes well with mushrooms, tomatoes, olives, and squash.

Sore or Stiff Joints? Curry Powder--The curcumin in curry inhibits the body's production of prostaglandin E2, an inflammatory compound that over-sensitizes nerves. It has been known to work quite well in reducing joint pain and swelling. Curry goes well with lentils, rice, cauliflower, and spinach.

Upset GI Tract? Dill--Indian Scientist found that dill's limonene works well at killing harmful intestinal bacteria such as E.Coli. Dill goes well with cucumbers, beets, carrots, and greens.

I will list 5 more in Part 2. This is just something for you to think about and realize that not only are you saving money and making food that tastes fabulous, but giving your family health benefits as well. Keep trying new things!
