Let me introduce myself. I am a retired schoolteacher, wife of the same husband for the last 44 years, a mom and a grandma (Yaya). My husband and I not only teach, but we have run a small produce farm in which we had a CSA program and sold extra produce and own a lawn care business. Since my retirement, I have started a small Herb and Spice business.

I am writing this book for the person just getting started in herbs.  Granny, my grandmother, taught me how to make bread, how to make donuts, and other family dishes. However, no one in my family used fresh herbs or grew them. None of my friends talked about them, so I knew nothing about fresh herbs, just the dried herbs you buy in the grocery store. After reading and researching about CSA programs, my husband and I went on an adventure of planting, cultivating, and using fresh herbs in our cooking. Oh, my goodness, what a life changer! We absolutely loved cooking with fresh herbs. The flavor was just wonderful and vibrant. Our family and friends loved the dishes we shared with them.

I learned so much along the way, and still am learning more. I am here to help you get started. To learn to enjoy the satisfaction of growing your own herbs, cooking with fresh herbs, preserving them, and adventuring into making your own herb/spice combinations. Not only will this save you money, but lets you decide what is in your food; less/zero salt and eliminate allergy foods (lemon allergy in my family).
